Magnetic: Mos Def News

Mos Def has rejoined the Breed Love posse, and they are playing their first of two shows at the 9:30 Club tonight, which is about two miles south of where I now sit. I don’t have tickets, so I’ll be watching him in “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy” on my TV about 30 feet south of where I now sit instead. A poor substitute to be sure.

The death knoll to Mos and crew showing up in many cities rang today as no fewer than seven shows were cancelled:

• 11/21/2005 – Gainesville, FL
• 11/27/2005 – Atlantic City, NJ
• 12/02/2005 – Northampton, MA
• 12/03/2005 – Toronto??? ... TBD
• 12/04/2005 – Cleveland, OH
• 12/07/2005 – Detroit, MI
• 12/08/2005 – Indy or Champaign… IN or IL…TBD

Keep an eye on the official site to see if the tour will land in your city or not. They way this tour has gone, however, there’s no telling what’s going to happen. If I was lucky enough to have a ticket to a show, I’d call the club the night of to make sure things were still on.

Mos Def has, at least temporarily, dropped out of the Breed Love Odyssey Tour. The announcement was made yesterday evening via a post on the Okayplayer forums by none other than Talib Kweli, the co-headliner of the Breed Love Tour and Mos Def’s partner in Black Star.

The article I linked to in the previous post about Mos calling out Suge Knight at a Breed Love Tour stop last week didn’t tell the whole story. It didn’t tell how defiant and angry Mos sounded.
