Friday Night Videos TV show screenshot Are you old enough to remember “Friday Night Videos?”

This self-explanatory television show was around before there was this Internet thing and seemingly before there was MTV. (See that round thing in the image? That’s a record, not a CD.)

So, since MTV sucks now and we do have the Internet, I’m bringing FNV back for 2005… Mos Def-style, of course.

Maybe it’s because Hollywood is so far away from DC (funky4u HQ), but I’m just hearing about a new Mos Def movie that’s in production. Journey to the End of the Night, which also stars Brendan Fraser, is set for a late 2006 release.

A gritty thriller of betrayal beyond redemption set against the harsh backdrop of a South American city defined by drugs, money, sex, and corruption, Journey to the End of the Night pits a tortured son against his father as they separately develop plans to escape the desolation of their lives through a lurid underworld. – Ropes of Silicon

Mos Def & Talib Kweli still create great music together. They proved this again last night for the world to see on Jimmy Kimmel’s Live Concert Series. The duo performed Supreme Supreme, a track off of Talib’s upcoming album on which Mos is a guest. Talib sounds a little hoarse, but Mos is right on time and the track is hot.

If you missed the live performance, have no fear. The internet is here:

More Mos Def & Breed Love Odyssey crew photo love from mskyra.

The rumors of Mos focusing on his acting must be true, because he reminds us:

I wonder what the guys over at Hip Hop Blogs think of Mos wearing this shirt.
